When Life gives you snow.... make Snowmen!

Gosh it's been a crazy past few days!

Thursday we were preparing for a BLIZZARD when it was
70 degrees outside !!!
(hummmm... what is wrong with that picture!????)
Thursday night we got the call that school had been cancelled for Friday.
Friday morning we had some snow
-- but not that much --
Friday early afternoon it REALLY started snowing and didn't
quit until the early morning hours on Saturday.
Saturday when we got up the sun was shining
and it was 25 degrees outside. By Saturday afternoon the
snow was perfect for S N O W M E N!!!
The kids had a great time building them --
and Piper got a little creative (go figure!)
Jordan ended up pile driving his!!
(after Mom took pictures!)
We are thankful for the moisture!
We are thankful for the fun we had building our frozen friends!
AND...We are thankful for the time spent outside!

Spring Break 2009

Wonderful days of Spring Break....
Aren't they Cute!

You will notice a 'V' on Jordan's right shin...

more on that in a minute!

Always ready to strike a pose!

Gosh.... It's hard to believe that Spring Break is over! This will be one that will not be forgotten anytime soon!

The kiddos were ready for a break - they had talked about all the things they wanted to do while on vacation. Things were going as planned...right up until Monday about 3pm.
Monday was a warm sunny day, the kids were playing outside and I was sitting on the driveway enjoying the sunshine for a minute. I hear lots of screaming - but didn't pay it any attention - that had been going on all afternoon. Then Jordan's scream of "MOM" didn't sound right. I look up to see him limping home with his right shin covered in blood. OH CRAP!
I went and grabbed him .. sat him on the driveway and looked at his shin... no doubt about it ... stitches in our future... OH CRAP!
Run inside - grab a towel - wet the towel - run outside and put it on this ugly gash. Run inside grab my phone to call the Doctor, he's outta town (why is that... they are always outta town when you REALLY need them) his office says go to the ER.... yikes ER.... OH CRAP!
I picked Jordan up and carry him inside and sat him down by the front door -- I knew we would be leaving shortly so keep him close to the door. Call Doug -- 'you've gotta come home now -- Jordan is gonna need stitches...' OH CRAP!
My front door is now wide open with our neighbors there for support... there were 6 of them all standing there.... OH CRAP!
I look down at Jordan - he is scared -- and I feel like I'm freaking out... OH CRAP! I have to get it together.. my son is hurt and needs me to tell him it's gonna be ok! So... I did!
We have a friend who is a nurse at the clinic and she whisked us back.... right past the 2 1/2 hour wait and an hour later we are leaving ....
Jordan is the proud owner of 9 -- count 'em -- 9 stitches on his right shin. Our precious 9 year old now has 9 stitches. OH CRAP!
The next 3 days consisted of video games... rented movies.... video games... rented movies ... card games and the couch was a constant!!! POOR GUY!
The past couple of days he's been outside playing... he's a little slower (not much!) but he's ready to get the stitches out and get back to normal. ME TOO!
So.... that was how our Spring Break 2009 went! Not the way we planned.
We are thankful that it wasn't worse.... and thankful for the time we shared together!

Big Daddy's Body Shop

Big Daddy's shop is hoppin' right now.... one car after another!

Word is out that Big Daddy can fix cars!

Doug has seen a few cars in and out of the Igloo in the past few weeks!
Which is a good thing .... Keeps him busy - and outta trouble!
He loves being out there -- tinkering with body work. If it be known
he would love to be in the body shop business again... EXCEPT...
it's hard work! (but he loves doin' it!)

Seasons End...

The 2008 - 2009 basketball season has come to an end!
Hard to believe that the season is over!
Jordan and Piper had an awesome year!
There have been many firsts and lasts this season.
This was the first year for the Bulls to play in a league outside of
Amarillo...and win it!
The Bulls made it to the second round of the Kids Inc. Tourney
and lost out to their rivals... The Storm.
This was the first year for Piper to play basketball.
This was the first year for Upwards Basketball for us.
This will be the last year we are in our old Bulls uniforms...
we will get new ones next year.
This will be the last year we play Upwards Basketball...
Piper will be old enough to play Y-Ball and Kids Inc. next year.
SO..... we are moving on to different things now...
Jordan and Piper will run track starting in a couple of weeks.
Jordan will start flag football right after track ends with the
Zach's Club 54 team.
Piper says she wants to play flag football too...
she would be good at it -- guess we will wait and see!

ELEVEN YEARS!

ELEVEN YEARS AND COUNTING!

Eleven years ago I married my Best Friend!

We were married in Las Vegas, NV on Friday the 13th at 1300 hours!
We took about 20 family members and friends with us and used a small chapel off the strip!
Doug wore a tux and I had a short wedding dress -- hot pink roses and my Dad gave me away.
That is were the traditional part of our relationship ends....
Over the years we have had our hills and valleys.
But one thing is certain - we love each other!
So.... happy Friday the 13th!
We hope it is as lucky for you as it was and is for us!

60's Day

Dude... Peace, Love and Pass the TAKS test!
The kids celebrated the 60's in tie dye and headbands!
Everyone got to dress up the day before the TAKS test!
(My hands are still showing the colors of their shirts! ha)
Piper didn't take the test but she was
showing her support for Jordan!
(He said he thought he did pretty good...time will tell!)
They looked totally rad...dude!

Piper's Birthday Party

We finally made time to celebrate Piper's Birthday
with her friends (between basketball games)!!
She invited 11 of her buddies over for pizza, book bag
decorating and a cookie tower with candles!
(we had to have sherbet too!)
We had a great time being creative -
the kids love making stuff!
We decided she has a great group of friends --
they all got along super!
